‘IDEK’ comes from the mind of singer-songwriter newcomer Mija. Built around fizzy synths, subtly funky rhythms and a unique vocal tone, this might be the most impressive track from her debut album, Desert Trash. She explains the impetus behind it: “I needed to step outside of my comfort zone and into something that would become a catalyst for my next development as an artist... focusing on what truly matters to me; self-expression, realness, and the story”. The rest of the album sees Mija herself taking on out guitar, piano and vocal duties, as well as producing it herself; the highly personal nature of the release is what provides the warm familiarity that permeates each track. -Dan Peeke
